In 2009, EECW engaged in cooperative efforts with the National Action Committee on AIDS (NACA) at both federal and regional levels. Partnerships were established with State and Local Action Committees in AIDS (SACA/LACA) to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS. Through targeted awareness and sensitization campaigns, the project significantly impacted nomadic communities, particularly those in the rural areas of Kaduna and Plateau states, serving as direct beneficiaries of these initiatives.
The HIV/AIDS Campaign pursued several key objectives. Firstly, it aimed to heighten awareness and prevention efforts within nomadic communities. This encompassed the dissemination of accurate information through sensitization campaigns, workshops, and community outreach initiatives.
Another vital focus was the reduction of stigma and discrimination faced by individuals living with HIV/AIDS. Through educational programs, misconceptions were challenged, and a culture of empathy and inclusivity was promoted within the community. The campaign also sought to empower nomadic communities for sustainable prevention. This involved providing training in safe practices, distributing educational materials, and fostering local leadership to perpetuate advocacy efforts against HIV/AIDS.
Finally, the project prioritized rigorous monitoring and evaluation to gauge the impact of interventions. This included tracking key indicators, conducting surveys, and obtaining feedback from beneficiaries to ensure that the programs effectively achieved their intended outcomes.
